career guidance
This is an Internet based guide for students who want to spend some time to develop personal skills before they go on to college or university. The process is very simple: Schools will receive a password and within 30 minutes the student can complete the survey in his or her time.

The report the student receives reveals if and how the student would like to develop the following skills: motivation, social skills, independence, self-confidence, leadership, planning and life experience.

In addition, the report lists more than 80 different activities that the student can undertake in order to build up certain skills and the websites of 100 organisations that provide these opportunities.

It also mentions the minimum and maximum time involved and where the organisations operate. Part of the activities could be completed during a Year Off, others over a summer holiday. The program will be updated yearly.
